INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS
|
World Athletic Games en Helsinki en 1.959.
|
The presence
of Tomás Barris in European meetings was a constant over
his long athletic career. He only used to interrupt his European
schedule in order to participate in Spanish and Catalan Championships
and when forming part of the Spanish National Team at events. He
was a constant presence at events of the highest level. Stockholm,
London, Oslo, Paris, , Berlin, Edinburgh, Gothenburg, Brussels, Rome, Athens, Stuttgart, Munich, Helsinki, Malmö,
Tampere, Hannover, among many others, witnessed his successes and
they played an important part in gaining recognition and credibility
for Spanish athletics at a time when Spanish athletes were almost
unknown beyond Spain. He participated in 137 international meetings, with 58 victories, 32 second places and 21 third places, doing a total of 111 podiums. |
